One thing that makes me a great Realtor® is I have moved...a lot! I have moved around 25 times and since my husband and I moved our family to Grande Prairie just over 35 years ago, we have lived in about 15 homes! This means I know what my clients are going through when they're buying and selling homes. It also means that I have had the privilege of living in so many amazing Grande Prairie neighbourhoods.

After living in so many parts of the city I can say there isn't a "best neighbourhood" but rather each neighbourhoods offers something different! So after living in a few, here's been my experience of some of Grande Prairie's different neighbourhoods.

What Grande Prairie Neighbourhoods have I all lived in?

Whispering Ridge

Whispering Ridge is a very desirable neighbourhood! One of the biggest drawing factors for us was that it is located near to all the city amenities but has lower county taxes. Whispering Ridge has a school, several parks, and a great trail system. 

Royal Oaks

Royal Oaks is considered to be a "central" location. Although it is located on the North side of town it feels close to everything. It is near the hospital and Northwest Polytechnic. It also has numerous schools, parks, and great walking trails through Muskoseepi. 

Cedarwood Condos

Although I haven't lived here in 25+ years we enjoyed our time in the area. We found that it felt like a community where you actually know your neighbours. It is also close to the Bear Creek walking trails and grocery stores. 

Pinnacle Ridge

Pinnacle Ridge was the Southern most neighbourhood we ever lived in which was an adjustment to our usual North side living. We enjoyed the parks and proximity to schools, along with being close to Costco!

Crystal Heights

We were lucky enough to have the most amazing neighbours when we lived in Crystal Heights so we're a bit biased! That being said being close to schools (with playgrounds, basketball courts, and large fields) was a huge perk for our family. We also enjoyed the walking paths. 

Crystal Lake

I think for me, Crystal Lake might be my favourite neighbourhood we've lived. We've lived in 3 different homes in the area so it has a certain amount of familiarity to it! We love the walking trails and that the lots are a bit bigger. We also enjoy how it feels just as easy to drive downtown as it does getting out of town. 

Highland Park

My husband and renovated our home entirely when we lived in Highland Park. Some of the features of the area that we loved was how established it was with large trees and huge yards. We also enjoyed all the character homes.

Clairmont

Although it's not actually a neighbourhood in Grande Prairie it's close enough that I'm including it. Our kids loved living in Clairmont with the small town feel while still being close to everything of the city. Although the school came after us, I've had many clients and friends talk about how amazing it is! People also find it can offer a bit more affordability than homes in the city.

Patterson

Our home in Patterson was one of the first homes we ever owned! We loved our neighbours, the large city lots, and all of the parks. Patterson is a desirable neighbourhood for many looking for a more established area to live!

County of Grande Prairie

Our family lived on an acreage outside of the city for a few years. Although it was harder to travel with all of our kids in different activities, we did enjoy what the country life offered. Our kids made friends with the other bus kids and we had plenty of space to garden and host. The County taxes were also a huge perk!
